Meet Shelby



 Shelby

Shelby Forrest is a retired teacher and school administrator in the Upland Unified School district. As principal, he opened two schools--Foothill Knolls Elementary in1960 and Pioneer Jr. High School in1962. He also retired from the U.S. Marine Corps Reseve as a flull colonel. He flew as a fighter pilot in both WWII and Korea.  He belongs to the Marine Corps Aviation Association, the Association of Naval Aviation and the Tailhook Association. He has been a member of the University Club of Claremont since 1995 and a member of St.Marks Episcopal church since 1955.

Forrest has always enjoyed poetry and has been writing poems of his own for many years. A book of his poetry was recently published, and he has a Poetry web site at rhyme andreason.com

He graduated from the University of So. Calif in 1947  with a bachelors degree, and he received his Masters degree from USC in 1957. He has lived in Upland with Gloria, his wife, for the past 53 years. he has three grown children and nine grandchidren
