We Still cannot Answer the Why

I am told that when I first appeared,
for debut on this Earth,
I was given a name by which I am known,
later learned of the date of my birth.

I ‘m aware of the answers for who and for when,
But not for the what and the why.
And it is unlikely that I’ll ever learn
‘til after the day that I die.

I’ve learned the names of  planets which
rotate around the sun
I understand that there are nine,
and earth is merely one.

Our system’s part of a  galaxy,
just one of uncountable more.
I learned that only on Earth  there is life
but I really still don’t know the score.

Let us now concentrate on this planet called Earth,
a mere tiny speckle of dust.
We don’t have the answer for why we are here
We have to rely on our trust.

Over 20 degrees the earth’s axis will tilt.
For a cycle each day it will turn,
maintaining a distance away from the sun
far enough to escape solar burn

Required is a mind of an infinite scope
to design this elaborate plan.
A power we humans cannot understand,
far beyond limitations of man.
