Revisit the Young Republic

In Seventeen Hundred and Seventy Six
A young republic was founded.
In principles based on faith in God,
Its very soul was grounded.

Loyalty, honor, justice, love,
Freedom, and moral compassion.
by Judeo-Christian principles
strong character they did fashion.

The base on which our founders stood,
This solid, firm foundation,
Provided explicit guidelines for
The growth of our great nation.

But now I question the firmness of
That  rock on which I stand,
It’s showing signs of splintering
And crumbling into sand.

Oh that we could feel solid ground
Beneath our feet again
And overcome the ominous threat--
Erosion from within.

Divisive forces vie to gain
The power to have their way,
Promoting a secular, Godless fate
To take our freedoms away.

They would destroy our way of life,
Rekindle the embers of hate
They’ll try to lead us into the realm
Of a socialist welfare state

We yet can take a firm, hard stand
To fight hypocricy
And stand in unison that we may
Preserve democracy.
